Hi all,

There is an opportunity to bid (up to 80k) for a DEFRA tender to conduct primary research with animal keepers and vets to provide evidence on the impact of current exotic disease compensation policy on animal keeper behaviour and the likely effectiveness of different compensation measures in terms of promoting positive disease risk management practice.

The objectives of the research are:

1. To conduct primary research with animal keepers and vets involved in past cases of exotic disease to determine whether and how current compensation policy influenced animal keeper behaviour.
2. To conduct primary research with animal keepers and vets in each sector to explore how animal keepers are likely to respond to different financial incentives and penalties.
3. Identify the implications of the research findings for Defra’s compensation review, by sector.

I'd like to stress that this is very much a social research tender and Defra are looking for a bid which takes into account the full range of behavioural theories and academic perspectives that reflects both individual-based approaches as well as those which explore the role of social relations in influencing behavioural change.

For more information or to download the invitation to tender go to https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login.html

Thanks- and please do get in touch with me at [log in to unmask] if you want an informal chat about the research.
