We had a Modern Wrecks project to bring the maritime component into line with the terrestrial by recording post 1945 shipwrecks. All the records are online via PastScape http://www.pastscape.org.uk/
I published a brief report on this in the Newsletter of MEDIN who funded the work http://www.oceannet.org/marine_data_newsletter/documents/mdn_jul_11.pdf and spoke about it at the Historical and Maritime Archaeology Conference in Leicester.

Hi
First time for me to join in. I'm an artist working with archaeology and history.

Three projects may be of interest - though tangental to your immediate enquiry:

Ghost Ship by Chris Burden - http://www.locusplus.org.uk/projects/68~Ghost+Ship

Nowhere Island by Alex Hartley - http://nowhereisland.org/

Meadow by Tania Kovats - https://applications.bathspa.ac.uk/news/article.asp?article=407

Hi all,

Is anyone aware of any research that has been done, or is being done, in the archaeology/anthropology/heritage studies of contemporary boating? I am planning a project focusing on the material culture aspects and practices surrounding boating and its relationship to heritage.

Thanks in advance for any ideas, or advice!

Mirja
