NEWS.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

Tomorrow evening, Thursday 20th of November at 7pm in Berlinerpool, Hanna Ljungh, Ulrika Sparre and Berlin- based editor - in – chief and artist Andreas Koch will discuss matters of time and work on the art field in relation to the “What Are You Working On” project and the last issue of von hundert magazine, in which mentioned problems have been analyzed through a Berlin-gaze.

These Swedish artists want to highlight a potential problem; how the contemporary mindset affects our outlook and expectations of our own and others’ artistic practices as well as our perception of art as product, production or process.

After the discussion video interviews made by WAYWO from different art scenes (Stockholm, Art Athina, Lokal 30) will be screened.

CREATING EUROPE - über Kunst, Krise und Demokratie

Current socio-economic and environmental crises tend to define the near future. As they are unpredictable it becomes more and more important to develop new proactive concepts instead of burying one’s head in the sand. How can increasing populism and extremist political positions, often going hand in hand with social tensions, be prevented? How to empower societies to master crises by reverting to their own available resources? And what opportunities are there to experience and develop self-efficacy to strengthen democracy? How can arts and culture contribute to an advancement of an “European Resilient Society”? Is there something like Creative Crisis Intelligence?

The debate is part of the nationwide project “Gut vertreten – Update für Demokratie” of all Heinrich-Böll-Foundations and will be simultaneously translated from English to German.

Beirutis looking for a curator, artist or collective to direct its artistic program. The position starts in February or March 2015. CYPRUS FILM DAYS 2015
13th International Film Festival

The the 13th CYPRUS FILM DAYS - International Film Festival 2015, which is being held for the 13th time this year, will host for the 5th consecutive year a separate international competition section entitled “Glocal Images”, in which filmmakers from around the globe and Cyprus are invited to submit their fiction films.
The films participating in the competition section will be selected by the festival’s artistic committee: Dr. Costas Constandinides (Academic) Tonia Misiali (Director/Producer) and Stelana Kliris (Director/Producer). The international competition section “Glocal Images” welcomes films that voice the diversity of local cultures and contribute innovative representations of subject matters that can be addressed to an international audience.

Our International Jury will award the following prizes to the films competing under the “Glocal Images” category:
