Doing Well by Doing Good: Anthropology, Business and Development
Graduate Masterclass at the University of Edinburgh

DATES: 2pm Monday 1st December – 2pm Tuesday 2nd December
VENUE: Chrystal MacMillan Building, George Square, Edinburgh

This ESRC funded 1 day Graduate Masterclass will combine lectures and advanced seminars to explore what anthropology has to say about the changing role of business in international development. Through case studies and readings from South Asia, Africa and the Pacific we will explore the emergence of humanitarian business models that have led to the design of new health and energy technologies aimed at the global poor.

Limited spaces are available and accommodation and travel costs will be covered.

The class will be of interest to anybody planning graduate dissertations in social anthropology, medical anthropology, anthropology and development, as well as geography and international development/development studies – MSc (Scotland), MA/MSc (England, Wales and Northern Island) - and to those thinking about pursuing PhD research projects in social anthropology and/or international development.

APPLY: If you would like to apply, please send an email to: [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> by 25th November. The email should include a 1 page CV and a brief accompanying paragraph (max 200 words) telling us about yourself, your current MSc programme and the kinds of future research projects you are interested in.
