Dear all, This is an invitation to a new seminar series for anthropologists with a research interest in Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) across institutions in London and beyond. The first meeting will be held: *5.30 pm, Tuesday the 11th November* in The Seligman Library, 6th Floor, Old Building, London School of Economics (LSE). The aim of this seminar series is to create a forum for anthropologists working on issues related to SWANA to present and discuss work in progress. We also want to use the seminar as a platform, where events, talks, calls for papers and other relevant information can be shared. The tentative format of the seminar is for doctoral students, early career researchers, and SWANA scholars to present their work-in-progress to other anthropologists with similar regional expertise, in a critical, yet unintimidating and supportive, small-scale milieu. The format and schedule of the seminar series is open for suggestions at the first meeting. We welcome everyone interested to come to the first meeting on 11 November, where we will discuss the seminar series set up, and get to know each other. To open the seminar series, *Philip Proudfoot (LSE) will be giving the first paper “Rupture and revolutionary art: politics and peril on Syrian rebel-workers' smart phones.”* The seminars are open to the public and we encourage anyone with an interest in South West Asia and North Africa and/or anthropology to attend.
