Statistical Science Director / Senior Principal Scientist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented senior scientific statistician to join one of the world’s largest multinational pharmaceutical and biologics companies. The role of Statistical Science Director
or Senior Principal Scientist (depending on experience) will play a leading role in the method development and building of the Statistical Innovation group, within the Advanced Analytics Centre (AAC), in Global Medicines Development (GMD).
The AAC consists of four global skill groups (Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, Statistical Innovation, and Scientific Computing) collaborating closely together to transform drug development decision
making through applied data science, to increase the companies capability to deliver great medicines to patients through innovative science. The AAC identifies and drives the development & utilisation of leading-edge analytical methodology, skills, capabilities,
tools, processes and best practice, in addition to providing short-term tactical analytics support, and while engaging in the external environment to shape and access innovation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities

For one or more of the following Statistical areas, lead the AAC contribution
o
HTA, HEOR and Payers
o
Novel & innovative trial design
o
Bayesian or Statistical learning modelling
o
Subgroups & multiplicity
o
Missing data
·
Propose and deliver ‘fit for purpose’ solutions in response to business problems
·
Proactively identify new areas where Statistical Innovation can add value
·
Flexibly respond to the evolving scientific objectives of the companies R&D environment
·
Innovate in collaboration with groups across the company, including the other AAC groups
·
Develop collaborative relationships with the external scientific/academic community
Background/Qualifications
·
PhD in Statistics or Mathematical statistics with extensive experience in pharma/healthcare
·
Proven track record of providing innovative statistical solutions in a Clinical Development environment, particularly relating to the design, analysis & interpretation
of clinical trials and trial programmes
·
Broad awareness of statistical issues against the evolving scientific, regulatory & payer landscape
·
High level of competence in global and cross-skilled collaborative working
Location
·
The location of the role can be either Cambridge UK, or Gothenburg Sweden. There is also the option of the role being based in the US, should a suitable candidate
already be based there.
