Towards a Multi-Disciplinary, Multilevel Framework

 

ESRC Seminar 4: Regulation and the individual experience of work

12-13 February 2015

CALL FOR PAPERS

This Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) two-day seminar will contribute to theory, research agendas, policy and practice about the relationship between the regulation of work and employment and individual experiences of work. The seminar aims to explore the interactions between individuals and regulation, focusing on how these interactions shape dynamics related to experiences of work.

 

We invite contributions to present work that addresses the general theme of the seminar. Potential themes for the day include (but are not limited to):

·         Individual regulation and the organisation

·         Individual experiences of regulation

·         Regulation of professional identities

·         Regulation of careers

·         Self-regulation at work

·         Regulation and intersectional inequalities

·         Intersectional approaches to regulation

·         Regulation and global workers

 

If you would like to present a paper at the seminar, please submit a 400-word abstract to [log in to unmask] by Friday 21st of November. All abstracts will undergo blind peer-review. Decisions will be communicated by the 1st of December 2014. You are also welcome to register to attend even if not wishing to present! Details for registration are provided below.

 

In line with the aim of the seminar series to develop a multi-disciplinary, multi-level framework, we welcome contributions from academics from all disciplines as well as individuals from, and involved with policy-making and practitioner communities. We are particularly interested in submissions from PhD students and Early Career Researchers and are pleased to announce that there are £100 travel bursaries available to attend this seminar. Bursaries will be competitively awarded to PhD students and Early Career Researchers (junior postdoctoral researcher in the first 3 years of their postdoc) based on the quality of the abstract submitted and its alignment with the aims of the seminar.

 

Registration - Attendance to this event is FREE. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, as well as a conference dinner on the evening of the 12th of February.
