I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any tools or techniques to monitor specific topics or issues (including contraversial or political debates etc), using digital technology.

An example would be for instance, wanting new research papers on say 'Tamiflu, and policy' using Google scholar alerts - which works quite well.

I'm just wondering if there are any apps to be used on mobile phones, or computers, which would allow a systematic trawl of the Internet, on certain keywords or topics. I'm guessing these types of techniques are very common in the marketing, digital, production world – but perhaps a useful for researchers as well.

I'm particularly interested in trying to monitor public opinion, and professional and a bit opinion using new technology.

Has anyone got anything they can share? Are there any digital research groups that are interested in this?

Many thanks
Kate
