Cultural Consultation Club, Autumn Term

 

“Culture, Religion and Trauma”

 

Following our earlier email please find further details of the programme for Cultural Consultation Club Term, in October and November 2014.

 

Our last term on “Trauma and Culture” focussed mainly on the Middle East and the clinical and humanitarian consequences of the recent political and social unrest in the area.

 

Given the success of the presentations and the huge interest raised, we decided to continue to search through these topics and our next term will be focussing more widely on culture, religion and trauma.

 

We will have presentations on the characteristics of religious radicalism, and how to discern them in clinical practice, modern radicalisation, psychoanalytic approaches to PTSD and the history of the concept of trauma.

 

The dates for the next term are as follows:

 

29 October 2014

 

19 November 2014

 

The meeting will take place in Room G05 of the Joseph Rotblat Building at Barts & The London, Queen Mary University of London, Charterhouse Square, London EC1M 6BQ (map attached)
