Professor of Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology and Suicide Prevention at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy at VU University Amsterdam.

"New Advancements in Suicide Prevention Research".
Suicide is one of the most important public health problems causing immense cost and suffering to individuals, to families as well as to societies. The prevention strategies have to be comprehensive and multidisciplinary and address the broader societal structures as well as the culturally specific needs of individuals. This presentation provides an overview about the forms of suicide prevention and the literature providing evidence about their efficacy and effectiveness.
