medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Good afternoon!

I teach a translation of the Qur'an pretty regularly: I often use by Abdullah Yusuf Ali's Qur'an Text, Translation and Commentary, published by Tahrike Tarsile Qur'an, Inc.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

I recognize that this question is a bit beyond the purview of the list, but I knew this community of scholars would have some solid suggestions: I will be teaching an introductory class on Islam (history, theology, exploration of the central texts), and want the students to buy an English translation of the Qur’an (or an edition with English and Arabic) - ideally I am looking for the functional equivalent to the Oxford Annotated NRSV, any suggestions?

My great thanks,
Ken A. Grant
