As the Presto4U<https://www.prestocentre.org/4u/about> project comes to an end (Dec 2014) we are bringing the education and research communities together to offer them some free training in audiovisual digital preservation.
Organised by the Department of Digital Humanities at King's College London in collaboration with the University of Venice IUAV and Italian broadcaster RAI, 'Future-proof AV content for education and research'<https://www.prestocentre.org/calendar/future-proof-av-content-education-and-research> will take place in Venice (Italy) over 2 half days (6-7 November 2014).
This workshop has been designed to empower two of the emerging Communities of Practice<https://www.prestocentre.org/communities> identified within the Presto4U project (Learning and Research), however it is not restricted to them and anyone working with audiovisual content in libraries and museums might also find this event useful and is welcome to attend.
Whether you are completely new or have already started to adopt a digital preservation strategy, this workshop will offer you a good overview of the methods and best practices for AV preservation including digitisation, choice of master formats, use of standards, metadata and improving collections discoverability. Participants will also gain a broader knowledge of EU copyright law exceptions (e.g. orphan works) and learn how to build business justification through uses cases and workflow analysis. Please visit the event page<https://www.prestocentre.org/calendar/future-proof-av-content-education-and-research> for a detailed programme.

Please note that attendance is free, but registration is required (closing on Monday 27th October).
We would be very grateful if you could share this message with anyone you think might be interested.

Best regards,

Linda Ligios
King's College London
