AAG 2015 Call for paper: Modelling and Simulating Evolutionary Dynamics of Urban Land Use

Urban land use is one of the most dynamic systems on the earth due to the heterogeneous nature of urban land uses. Understanding the dynamics of urban land use is imperative to guide urban growth and planning for future livable and sustainable inhabitation. Urban modelling, especially computer simulation modelling, is essential for elevating the understanding of urban land use growth and evolution. A variety of computer simulations modeling techniques have been developed to explain urban evolutionary processes, assess the potential impacts of future land development, and forecast future trends of urban growth and change.

Several entry points have been established to simulate dynamic processes of urban land use evolution, including residential land use dynamics, industrial land use dynamics, retailing dynamics, and energy consumption dynamics. The aim of this session is to stimulate sharing and exchange of theories and approaches that address the issues of urban land use growth and evolution from (but not limited) these perspectives. Both theoretical and empirical research contributions are welcome.

Potential research topics may include but are not limited to:

·         Urban residential dynamics modelling and simulation

·         Urban industrial dynamics modelling and simulation

·         Urban retailing dynamics modelling and simulation

·         Urban energy consumption modelling and simulation
