Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) archivist, Hilary Ritchie, takes a look back on Addenbrooke’s first computer.

With the eagerly anticipated arrival of eHospital on October 25, I wondered when the first computer was installed at Addenbrooke’s.

The story of the Addenbrooke’s Computer Unit starts in the mid 1960’s when the Hospital Board and the University’s Faculty Board of Medicine set up a joint working party to consider the role of computers in the future development of Addenbrooke’s.
