Wednesday 15th October - Drug Development and the Unexpected Role of Plants<https://www.societyofbiology.org/events?event_id=628> 19:00, Magdalen, Oxford, OX1 4AU Speaker: Dr Alison Foster, senior curator Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum, University of Oxford On behalf of the Thames Valley branch of the Society of Biology, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the branch’s upcoming Annual General Meeting and lecture by guest speaker, Dr Alison Foster, University of Oxford Plant Scientist and Senior curator at the Botanic garden and Harcourt arboretum, which will look at the unexpected role plants play in drug development<https://societyofbiology.org/events?event_id=628>. Despite the recent interest in drug discovery by molecular modelling, combinatorial chemistry, and other synthetic chemistry methods, natural product derived compounds are still proving to be an invaluable source of medicines for humans. Join other local members and their guests to discover more on this important topic.
