Dear Mailbase, What are your current specimen requirements for ACTH? Most labs on Assay Finder appear to state EDTA, send to lab on ice ASAP and freeze immediately. However, there has been work published suggesting that ACTH is stable for a number of hours in EDTA (see attached) and there was a FOCUS poster a number of years ago by Heynes and Henson from QMC, Nottingham that showed preliminary data supporting that ACTH is stable for up to 24h at room temp. Are we being over cautious? I'd like to get a consensus view before adopting a more lenient approach.
