How to Transcribe for the Smithsonian - WSJ
Handwriting experts say you can often discern the difference between a draft and a final letter by the sloppiness of the writer's penmanship, and Dove's writing looked hurried, lacking punctuation. He had scrawled "not sent" at the top of the page, but as I squinted and zoomed at his slanted, pencil markings, I could also tell he was trying to mask his anger.
