> It is an exciting time for the School of Design and we are looking for tenure and/or teaching track faculty to help us realize our vision for the next decade. We are especially interested in faculty at the entry-level, assistant professor rank.

> Successful applicants will teach at all levels of the undergraduate and masters programs, frequently team teach with colleagues from complementary disciplines, and serve as thesis advisors to masters students.

> The School invites collaborative applicants with the following qualifications:
> 
> 1. A design degree or equivalent professional expertise in one or more of the following design disciplines:
> •	Communication or graphic design (agility in both analog and digital media)
> •	Industrial or product design
> •	Architecture or environmental design
> •	Interaction design
> 
> 2. University level teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels or equivalent professional experience:
> We are especially interested in candidates who are eager and qualified to teach at all levels of the curriculum.

> 3. Additional expertise in one or more of the following areas:
> The School’s overarching theme is ‘Design for Interactions’ and refers to the focus on the quality of interactions between people, the built (designed) world and the environment (natural world). Three areas of design focus, Design for Service, Design for Social Innovation and Transition Design represent areas in which projects and student research are situated. > The School takes a transdisciplinary approach to design education and its position within a premier research university provides faculty with an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines. Faculty at the School of Design believe in teaching through making, are passionate about teaching and interact with students at all levels in our program. We have a highly collaborative culture and faculty frequently ‘team teach’ with colleagues with complementary expertise. We are actively engaged in a conversation about the future and the role that design/designers can play.

> Research
> In addition to teaching, tenure-track faculty (as well as doctoral students) are engaged in research that advances professional practice. Research within the College of Fine Arts is defined as activities that lead to the production of new knowledge; to increased problem-solving capabilities including design and analysis; to original critical or historical theory and interpretations; or the production of innovative professional work (practice-based research). Tenure-track faculty are expected to undertake research and regularly publish as partial fulfillment of tenure requirements.
