Dear All

A somewhat naive question but could anyone let me know the value to the website publisher and the value to a website visitor of categories and tags? 

I am a fairly novice WordPress user, publishing spoken word podcasts on http://www.talkingwalking.net/  and am aware that all the posts and pages are Uncategorized.  WordPress help (& support) pages tell you how to but not the value of, categorising or tagging posts and pages. 

If there is value in doing it, would it be wise to ask the interviewees to suggest categories and tags that describe their work?
