Dear All, Some of you may be interested in a new group-level approach to reflective practice explored in this workshop. This experiential cross-disciplinary event is taking place at Institute of Education, London on Wednesday 8th October. The workshop explores the shift from metacognition to social metacognition (Frith, 2012). Group-Situated Reflective Practice will be introduced as a framework for social metacognition and as an idea in which participants co-construct meaning in their current social context. Workshop participants will also be introduced to a pedagogy for Group-Situated Reflective Practice, called SharedThinking. SharedThinking is a pedagogical approach developed from doctoral research at the University of Glasgow (Bowskill, 2013). It consists of three core elements which are: (1) Discussion & Listening (2) Pedagogical Documentation (Rinaldi) and (3) Group-Situated Recipes. This approach offers a practical process in which the group serves as a resource for individual and organisational learning alike. This innovative practice has already been used in several institutions for both staff and students. It is scalable, measurable and practical.
