Dear Colleagues:

Apologies for cross posting

The first webinar, following on from the workshop on the 19th of September at Jisc’s London offices, is set to take place on Wednesday, the 1st of October from 10:00-11:00. It will focus on the second sprint of the Jisc Monitor Technical Developments. Here is the link to the Blackboard platform, which we have recently moved to, away from Webex:

Jisc Monitor is a one-year project which started in May 2014, with the aim to explore how a Jisc managed shared service might support institutions in meeting HEFCE’s policy on Open Access for the Post-2014 REF. The project is scoping and building proof of concept prototypes to respond to specific use cases. Prototypes will be used to assess the feasibility of developing a service, to scope that service if there is a clearly articulated need for one and to identify priorities for the service. As such, these webinars are our continuing engagement with key stakeholders, to encourage participation and collaboration in order to explore design and development of a service for HEI. The four use-cases include:

· Monitoring all publication activity to ensure compliance with funder mandates

· Monitoring publication activity to understand what has been published

· Monitoring spend, and

· Standards development to enable efficient data exchange.

The workshop and these fortnightly follow-on webinars are looking at the second set of the two use cases this time around, monitoring spend and standards development. Additional information will be sent later, prior to the webinar, but here is a link to our most recent blog post regarding updates on our current collaborative work: http://jiscmonitor.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2014/09/05/jisc-monitor-and-the-importance-of-collaboration-by-brian-mitchell-jisc-collections/.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

All the best,

Frank
