Dear Colleagues:

Apologies for cross posting

The fourth and final webinar focusing on the first sprint of the Jisc Monitor Technical Developments is scheduled to take place Wednesday, the 3rd of August 2014 from 10:00-11:00.  Joining instructions are below following my signature and an attachment for the session is included.  Jisc Monitor is a one-year project which started in May 2014, with the aim to explore how a Jisc managed shared service might support institutions in meeting HEFCE’s policy on Open Access for the Post-2014 REF. The project is scoping and building proof of concept prototypes to respond to specific use cases. Prototypes will be used to assess the feasibility of developing a service, to scope that service if there is a clearly articulated need for one and to identify priorities for the service.  As such, these webinars, which follow on from the 8th of July workshop in London, are our continuing engagement with key stakeholders, to encourage participation and collaboration in order to explore design and development of a service for HEI.   The four use-cases include:

·         Monitoring all publication activity to ensure compliance with funder mandates

·         Monitoring publication activity to understand what has been published Monitor spend, and

·         Standards development to enable efficient data exchange.

The workshop and these follow-on webinars are looking at the first two use cases, with the latter two instances being the focus for subsequent work in September and following.  This 3rd update and review meeting for this first round of development will specifically focus on the underlying software and data environment to address the Publication and Compliance use cases.  Additional information is included in the attachment and here is a link to our most recent blog post regarding updates of our current work, which includes a link to the recording of our second webinar, held on the 20th of 6 August 2014: http://jiscmonitor.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2014/08/20/getting-useful-ids-early-rationale-for-an-id-gathering-and-co-referencing-service/.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

All the best,

Frank
