Dear All

Forwarding on a message below from Alex on PHE workshop

I have taken off the map attachment because of size - but a map of the venue (formerly known as Staff House) can be downloaded at http://www.tra-ltd.co.uk/dl/pdf/staff_house_and_campus_map_2008.pdf

Timing of event is also interesting given English Chief Medical Officer report on mental health yesterday which seems to downplay role of wellbeing

Best wishes

David

Subject: Public Health England funded workshop on WORK, HEALTH and WELL-BEING

A Public Health England funded workshop on WORK, HEALTH and WELL-BEING:
Monday 10th November 2014<x-apple-data-detectors://0>
9.15am – 4.30pm<x-apple-data-detectors://1> (lunch provided)
Manchester Meeting Place, Sackville Street, The University of Manchester

Researchers from The University of Manchester, Durham University and University College London are being funded by Public Health England to set up an UK academic network on ‘work, health and well-being’.

Previous research from Public Heath England has identified a number of barriers to interdisciplinary research on work, health and wellbeing, including a lack of interest from funders, short-term policy agendas, methodological and data issues, a lack of communication between users of research and academics, and academics working in silos.

This network offers an exciting opportunity to try and overcome some of these barriers via the use of online resources and face to face workshops. The aim is to bring together those who contribute to, and benefit from research in work, health and well-being, in order to share expertise, provide opportunities for collaborations and generate more research in the area.

If you would like to be involved in the network we look forward to hearing from you; please [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]><mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

As part of the network, two free workshops will be held in Manchester, the first of which is scheduled for November 10th<x-apple-data-detectors://4> and will bring together academics to talk about how they overcame some of the barriers in their research on the topics of Workplace Health, the Health of the Working Population, and the Health of the Unemployed.
