Hi,

 

Referring to the penultimate paragraph (Alzheimer’s): once I mentioned this in an interview on the benefits of language learning to a young student reporter from the local student newspaper. Among the more obvious benefits, I pointed out that there were studies that suggested that learning languages seems to delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

To my surprise the actual piece in the paper a few days later then made the bold claim that language learning could cure Parkinson’s. J

 

In any case, thanks for sharing the article. I wonder why the government doesn’t jump on that? A more rigorous requirement of language learning in schools up to A-Levels could after all save enormous money in health and care costs in later years. All the more reason to invest time and money in foreign languages.
