Hello Stuart

I'm not sure whether you're looking for AV or interactive resources but I've commissioned content that can be classed as informal learning - in terms of public engagement purposes (and also re-use in modules where applicable)

I developed a series of comedy animations titled '60 Second Adventures in...' exploring philosophy, economics, astronomy, religion.
Here's the one on philosophy - 60 Second Adventures in Thought. Over 900,000 views. Hilberts Infinite Hotel re-used in Level 1 Maths module.

Also The History of English in ten Minutes (Language) - used in Worlds of English https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3r9bOkYW9s

Science Behind the Bike 5 x series (Science, Technology (used in a module on Sport and Fitness)

Unlikely Leaders 5 x series academic commentary on Russell Brand, Richard Feynman, Nicola Adams etc - challenging perceptions of leadership (HSC/Business/Cross Faculty - re-used in HSC Module on Leadership and Health and Social Care)

Subject: DLNET Surgery: online 'learning' resources

Hello DLNET!

Our surgery is now open...

First quick question for you all: are there any really good examples of online learning resources (for 'informal learning' audiences) out there?

In my blog, I cited Nature Detectives as a great example (http://www.naturedetectives.org.uk/); simple resources to be used by younger audiences (supervised by parents or teachers) - most of it is stuff that could supplement classroom activities, but most of it will also work well for families at home or when out exploring...

I know that informal learning audiences will probably not go for content that is labelled as 'learning', so how do we ensure that good content is also appealing?

Any thoughts or discussions on this would be more than welcome!

Thanks,

Stuart
