Queen's University Research Fellowship Scheme

Research Fellowship Scheme has been established to attract outstanding and ambitious researchers from across the globe to join Queen's University. Our successful Fellows will be able to access exceptional support to enable them to become leaders in their field. As a Queen’s Research Fellow you will initiate, develop and manage high level research projects in line with the University's research strategy.  This prestigious four year Research Fellowship is a fantastic opportunity to build upon the foundations of an academic career and will lead to an academic post, subject to performance. The purpose of the scheme is to support the Fellows in pursuing their research. There will be a lighter teaching load and administration responsibilities during the award. Some teaching responsibilities will be introduced into the role to ensure the post-holder can transition appropriately to an academic post.

To support our ambitious research strategy we are currently making a substantial investment in our priority research areas and expect to award 20 fellowships at this time. 

In order to build upon our existing areas of world-leading research, we aim to align our Queen's Research Fellows with our research priority themes. Applicants will be required to demonstrate in their application how their current research is aligned to one or more of the themes outlined below. With a relevant degree and PhD (or equivalent) the Fellows will also have at least three and no more than ten years relevant post PhD experience.

The Fellowships will be offered for four years starting in 2014 - 2015. At the end of the four years, having undertaken the appropriate professional development, and satisfying the criteria for an academic post within the University, the Fellows will be offered an academic position.

The salary scale for the posts is Ac3 £38,511 - £50,200 per annum (including contribution points) there will an additional payment for those Fellows with medical training who can achieve a salary of up to £60,000.

Successful applicants to our Queen's University Research Fellowship Scheme will also have access to generous funds to assist with start-up activities for their research. Fellows within priority themes linked to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science will receive an allocation of £10,000 and Fellows linked to disciplines with the Faculties of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Medicine, Health and Life Sciences will receive £40,000.
