Dear colleagues,
This is a short note to help those of you aiming to make an application for Archive Service Accreditation in the next 18 months. You can apply for Accreditation at any time, subject to agreement with your assessor body, but if you have a specific timescale for when the award is needed, you make like to note the following.
Accreditation is awarded by Panels drawn from the governing Archive Service Committee. Three Panels meet per year, and dates are published on the programme pages for reference (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archives-sector/award-archive-service-accreditation.htm). Panel dates have now been set for 2015:
· 5 March
· 1 July
· 5 November
Once assessed, applications will be put to the next available Panel for an award decision. If your service is in England, and therefore assessed by The National Archives, please note that applications should be submitted at least three months in advance of a Panel meeting to ensure your application is reviewed at that Panel. We will where possible assess on a shorter timescale, but this cannot be guaranteed. Different arrangements pertain in the other home nations, so please contact your assessor body if you have queries about applications in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
