As part of capital project to develop a new heritage centre and theatre in Oldham, Oldham Local Studies and Archives is looking for an experienced freelance archivist to catalogue the archives of the Oldham Microscopical Society. This will involve:

· Using an existing box list to arrange and complete the archival catalogue
· Review and appraisal of duplicates within the collection and selection of originals for permanent preservation
· Numbering and packaging the collection etc
· Working within a public gallery space at Gallery Oldham, talking with the public about what you are doing and why

There is the potential to work with volunteers with subject knowledge to help complete the catalogue and in addition there is a large book collection associated with the Society which requires cataloguing and adding it to the archive collection in a meaningful way.

This project needs to start before mid October and will last no longer than one month. If you are interested please get in touch for more details.

Fee: up to £150 per day
