The Administrative Data Research Centre for England (ADRC-E) is an ESRC-funded collaboration between the University of Southampton and four Institutions within Bloomsbury (UCL, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Institute of Education and the Institute of Fiscal Studies).The ADRC-E aims to widen the use of linked electronic records for research, thereby opening up a new era in research to inform policy, service development and understanding of people's lives.


Data Scientist in Administrative Data Research

£33,353- £40,313 inclusive of London allowance per annum, depending on skills and experience.
The ADRC-E is looking to recruit an experienced data scientist to facilitate high quality research by establishing and working with novel linked datasets between administrative data sources (health, education, crime, environment, economic and welfare) in England. This is a key appointment, central to ADRC-England and the post holder will be working with a diverse set of researchers and data providers across England and across all aspects of the research data life cycle (linkage, methods, analysis, and curation). Applicants should have a strong academic background and hold a PhD in a relevant discipline or have equivalent relevant experience. Experience with statistical packages and managing and analysing large datasets is required, as is strong experience in relational database management systems.
The post is available immediately and is initially funded for three years in the first instance.

Research associate

£33,353 - £37,152 per annum depending on skills and experience , inclusive of London Allowance.

An enthusiastic individual with a background in statistics, epidemiology or a related discipline is sought for this full-time post. The post is available immediately for 36 months and is based at the Administrative Data Research Centre for England (ADRC-E) within the Farr Institute for Health Informatics Research on the UCL Bloomsbury campus.

The research associate will join a team of experts to work on methodological developments to underpin widening of the use of linked administrative data for research and on exemplar studies to illustrate the value of linked data analyses for policy makers, services and the public. Initially the post holder will focus on studies related to services for children and young people, using data from health care and education sectors but will be expected to gain expertise across age groups and other data sources. S/he will also provide support to external approved users of ADRC-E linked data and will contribute to capacity building through teaching and supervision of postgraduate students. PhD statistics or epidemiology or related area or equivalent research experience, experience of analysing and conducting research involving quantitative data, plus a proven ability to carry out high quality research and to analyse large datasets is required.
