News re Women and Silent Screen VIII 2015

Good news that, after doubt about its future, the eighth edition of Women and Silent Screen has found a home through the good will of Mark Lynn Anderson, who has volunteered to take on organization of the conference at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.

The dates are 17-19 September 2015, so book your diaries and start planning research for your paper! There is a long list of British women filmmakers in the silent era waiting rediscovery. A list will be posted shortly on our website at womensfilmandtelevisionhistory.wordpress.com--although, of course, this is an international event and papers researching women of any nationality working in silent cinema will be welcome.

The call for papers will be announced at the end of August/early September on the website of Women and Film History International--wfhi.org--and also circulated through our listserve and website. WFHI are also asking for anyone interested in joining its Steering Committee for 2014-2015 as 'at large' contributors to let Susan Potter--mailto:[log in to unmask] Michele Leigh--mailto:[log in to unmask] by 30 August.

Finally, congratulations to WFHI's new officers elected at WSS VII who include: Co-Executive Secretaries, Susan Potter (University of New England Australia) and Michele Leigh (Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA); and Membership Secretary, Kristen Anderson Wagner (Menlo College, USA).
