Information Rights Officer

The role

As a key member of our Corporate Communications’ External Information Services team, you will be responsible for responding to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) and for various Data Protection activities, to ensure compliance with information rights legislation.   
 
Although key responsibilities will be centred on information rights you will be expected to develop your understanding of the team’s wider activities to undertake other work to support business resilience.   
 
There will be opportunities to get involved with project work and to contribute to the CAA’s information strategy and compliance activities.   

The ideal candidate

Ideally, you will be a qualified FOI Practitioner or alternatively be able to demonstrate extensive  knowledge and experience of information rights law and practices. 
 
You will have, and be able to demonstrate, excellent written communication skills, which is essential to formulate and structure responses to ensure we are effectively communicating what can regularly be complex issues, and will be highly conscientious about the quality of work produced.   
 
The role will especially be of interest to someone who has a high level of self confidence, creativity and innovation, seeking to work proactively with business areas to improve information available to the public.   
 
You will work in a team that manages high volumes of work, so you must be someone who can be depended on, who can work well both independently and also as part of a team. The nature of the work within the team can be unpredictable, so you will need to have skill to adapt your focus to unexpected tasks and demands.
