Dear colleagues

There is less than a week left to submit contributions to the NCCPE conference so don't miss out - details below.

The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement<http://www.publicengagement.ac.uk/>'s annual conference is taking place on 3rd & 4th December 2014 in Bristol and the conference theme this year is Captivating places; Captivating ideas; Captivating people: Unlocking the potential of curiosity-driven engagement.

Of the many purposes engagement serves, inspiring and informing are some of the most popular. Universities have a long history of engaging with the public imagination and stimulating their curiosity, and have developed significant partnerships with others to enhance public discourse and debate. The conference aims to capture the essence of effective engagement, and to do this was have developed a range of formats for contributions. One we are really excited about is 'Engagement Encounters', an opportunity to showcase a wonderful engagement project, or test out a new engagement format. We would love to encourage you to consider submitting an Engagement Encounter proposal for the conference. These encounters can be anything from 5 minutes to 1 hour in duration.

In addition there are several other session formats available including:

* Workshops: Workshops will be 1 hour in length, and should be interactive in nature - including either small group discussions, interactive exercises, arts based approaches to engagement etc.

* Story telling: We will host story telling sessions where we will offer the opportunity for delegates to hear up to three stories. Story tellers will have a maximum of 8 minutes to share their story, and we actively encourage story tellers to tell their story in imaginative ways (although powerpoint will be available for those unable to live without it)

* Presentations: These 30 minute sessions will offer delegates the opportunity to hear about a specific topic or project. It is anticipated that the presenter will speak for up to 15 minutes, leaving the rest of the session for Q&A

* Poster showcase: If you would like to contribute a poster to the conference then please let us know. Please note that posters should be designed to attract people to come to talk to you. Posters will be shared online before the event.

* Seminars: These 2 hour sessions are an opportunity to explore a topic in more depth, or to bring together a specific community of people. Please explain in your application why a seminar is more suitable than a workshop for the session you are proposing.

So if you have a project or idea you'd like to share, we'd love you to apply to contribute to the conference! It should be a really wonderful event. You can find out more and access the contributors form on our website here<http://www.publicengagement.ac.uk/work-with-us/nccpe-national-engage-conference>.

Submissions close on 2nd September.

With best wishes,
The NCCPE team
