Hi Sue

Public Health England state the following;

Infection can also occur if broken skin or mucous membranes of a healthy
person come into contact with environments that have become contaminated
with an Ebola patient's infectious fluids such as soiled clothing, bed
linen, or used needles.

I have also read elsewhere that it also means contact via burial processes
and infected animals.

See
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/public-health-england-ebola-support-and-s
urveillance-continues-but-risk-remains-low-in-england and download the
information sheet on the website.

This Irish website from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre also
refers to what activities are safe which includes handling money and
groceries, which isn't too far removed from handling mail.

I hope that helps

Dear All,

I have a member of staff here that handles arriving mail from all over the
World and has expressed concern with regards to Ebola and touching the mail.
I have already sent them WHO information, but did notice this line 'and
indirect contact with environments contaminated with such fluids' which they
do not clarify what 'environments' were! If any of my esteemed colleagues
could email me something to put the member of staff's mind at ease I would
be most grateful.

Many thanks

Sue
