Subject: [Nhcoll-l] Making Geological Collections Preservation a True Priority --- GSA Proposal

Dear Colleagues,

I invite you to review and sign if you wish the proposal being put forth to the Geological Society of America (GSA) board this month for "Making Geological Collections Preservation a True Priority". The proposal, it's supporting documents, and a summary of its talking points can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19y6JK2GZvC8CD4R0YioGnwvCGTRJqLcDCuxzISD-eu0/edit
If you do not have an account with google or have difficulty editing the document please direct edits and requests for signatures to me and I'll be happy to take care of them for you.

On behalf of Dr. Bob Tracy, who has graciously offered to represent everyone who signs at this year's GSA meeting, we ask that any suggested edits and all signatures be submitted by 5pm EST on this Friday Aug 15. This will give us enough time to get the final draft out to the board members for their perusal before the meeting.

Geological collections preservation has recently been a discussion on many of the community listserves and in meetings such as this year's Southeastern GSA meeting. Please join myself Dr. Tracy, and the supporting members of our community, to take action and preserve our priceless collections before it's too late.

Thank you all and apologies for any cross postings
