Dear Colleagues,
The Canadian Light Source call for proposals is now open with a deadline of September 4th 2014. Successful proposals will be granted beamtime between January and June 2015.
The Far-Infrared beamline at the CLS is equipped with a Bruker IFS 125 HR spectrometer capable of resolutions of better than 0.001 cm-1. There are several sample cells available including a 2 meter white cell capable of pathlengths up to 80 meters, which can be cooled down to -80 °C. In the 100 – 1000 cm-1 spectral region the synchrotron light source, can provide signal to noise ratios significantly better than conventional light sources, allowing high quality spectra to be obtained in a fraction of the time that would be required without a synchrotron source.
Proposals for “remote” use are also being accepted, which allow users to have their data collected without visiting the Canadian Light Source. For these proposals data is collected by beamline staff in communication as directed by the user. Those interested in “remote” use should contact Brant Billinghurst before putting in a proposal.
