medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Greetings all,

In popular literature on medieval religion, loricae are often said to be a specifically Irish form of prayer.

They were translated into  Latin, though. Does anyone know how widespread they were at any time(s) in the Middle Ages?
