If we value the profession within which we work we should be providing constructive criticism, identifying ways of improving and highlighting what CILIP has achieved rather than taking every opportunity to criticise and denigrate our professional body. Anyone new to this list won't wish to be associated with such negativity. I know I don't and God knows this government is doing enough damage to the library profession already without us killing it off from the inside. We need an active, engaged and positive member community. These strategic goals do not appear to have been met, although this does not appear to have been acknowledged in subsequent annual reports.
