Job Description

Department of Library Learning Services

Subject Librarian - part time 17.5 hours/week

Salary: £33,237 to £35,990 (Pro rata) pa inclusive of London Weighting Allowance

We are looking for a Subject Librarian to join the Library Academic Liaison team to take on responsibility for liaison services within the Department of Life Sciences. You are a creative and dynamic team player with excellent teaching, negotiation and advocacy skills. You will show a proactive approach to establishing effective communications with the department, identifying and responding to their information needs, and informing the development of library collections, facilities and services in support of teaching, learning and research.

Educated to degree level and with a qualification in Library/Information Management/Science, you are an experienced library professional who can demonstrate the expertise and understanding required to provide and develop library services and collections in an evolving HE and information environment.

This is an exciting time within Library Services as we develop a number of key projects: design for a new library (opening September 2017); develop a ‘virtual library’ to improve access to resources; engage with academic colleagues to ensure services meet needs and explore technologies to further develop our collections.

The University is focused on providing a first rate student experience, at the heart of which is a commitment to high quality, research-informed teaching, with degree programmes that prepare students for a successful graduate career.
