Subject: CFP Gendered Mobilities_Nordic Geographers Meeting, Estonia 15-19 June 2015
Reply-To: Yvonne Riaño <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>>

Dear all,
The Nordic Geographers Meeting (NGM) is an international geography conference held in every second year in one of the Nordic Countries and now, for the first time, in Estonia. The 6th Meeting will be held in Tallinn and Tartu on 15-19 June 2015. We invite abstract proposals (deadline 15 November 2014) for the following session:
Gendered Mobilities Research: Current Challenges

We inhabit a highly globalised/mobilised world. As Lash & Urry (1994, 252) put it, modern society is a society on the move. But the question is: to what extent is unlimited spatial mobility open to all, and how do notions of feminine and masculine identities shape different types and possibilities of mobility for men and for women across local, regional and transnational borders? How are different types of mobilities experienced by women and men? Further on, we need to address the question of how gender intersects with ethnicity/race to shape spatial mobilities. Understanding these questions has become a matter of central importance for Geographers today. This session welcomes papers on a variety of topics including student mobility, mobility for work, mobility for tourism, mobility and health, mobility and social capital, memory and mobility and refugee mobility. Theoretical and empirical contributions are welcome.
