This page will document how the endangered parts of UCD's large, and largely unknown, mineral collection is now being conserved. The project, which is ongoing and will last until at least this November, has been funded by the Heritage Council (Ireland), is coordinated by myself, and involves the essential participation of the National Museum of Ireland - Natural History (with Matthew Parkes, and contributions from Nigel Monaghan) and the School of Geological Sciences UCD itself (Prof Stephen Daly). So do drop in to the FB page, look around and click a 'Like' or two. And there is the fun aspect in the albums. Lots more minerals, vignette stories, updates and 'figure captions' to come over the next few months.

P.S. All this stemmed from my initial search for cotterite late last year in the shipping container in University College Dublin (and that appeared in the previous Coprolite).
