A good example from contemporary popular culture in my opinion would be "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". One of its major themes is confronting one's own fears, actually present in certain scenes. This a point which Cuaron reinforces with playful references to horror films from Murnau to Hammer. Otherwise what about "Alien"? I would welcome suggestions of films, tv episodes, etc. that have something philosophically interesting to say about fear. The suggestions need not themselves be fear inducing. Feel free to reply to me off list. If there is general interest I can compile and send out all of the suggestions.
