Position Announcement
 
The Institute for Social Policy, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for either two prae-doc positions (4 years; 30 hours/week) or a post doc position (non-tenure track, 4 years, 40 hours/week). We plan to fill these positions by 1 October 2014.

WU is the largest business university in the European Union and is centrally located at the heart of Europe. The University maintains an excellent position as a center for research and teaching and attracts an international group of students and faculty. It offers a broad range of subjects in all areas of economics and business administration.
 
Research and Teaching: The successful candidate will conduct applied empirical as well as conceptual research in the economics of social policy, contribute to collaborative research projects in social policy at the Institute, publish in academic Journals and Books, assist in teaching economics and social policy and will be expected to perform some administrative tasks
 
Applicants have a diploma or Master degree in economics or socioeconomics, for the post doc position we also expect a completed doctoral or PhD degree in economics and publications in international Journals with a good reputation. They have finished their studies with excellent grades; have research experience in the area of social policy, especially in issues linking to the Institutes’ core research areas (e.g. dealing with poverty and social exclusion, health and long-term care, markets for social services); have an excellent knowledge of relevant research methods (econometrics and/or qualitative approaches), they have teaching experience and an excellent command of English (oral and written language). Knowledge of German is a plus. Applicants like to work in teams and should be highly motivated, creative and dependable.
