NB. Are the NPG staff aware that all users of Art Sales Index need to apparently now register for a free account to access the database?

www.Artfacts.net  is an interesting free resource that we have just learnt about, which, although not a price index, does give information based on historic trends in exhibition and collections of single artists.  For example, you can see an artist’s ranking sales-wise and lists of their solo and group shows, entry in collections, peer comparison etc.

Subject: Issues with Art Sales Index?

Good afternoon, all,

For approximately the past two weeks, when staff in the National Portrait Gallery interrogate the (Blouin) Art Sales Index, no results appear. Specifically, when one searches an artist’s name, the controlled ‘choose artist from list’ list fails to list any names. (Apologies if that sentence induced motion-sickness: it’s listing noticeably).

Is anyone able to retrieve results from ASI?

Has anyone received any information from Blouin about problems with the site?

In the meantime, can anyone suggest the best (free) alternative?

Thank you very much for your time,

Joseph
