antiquarian bookseller, Michael Treloar, puts slides of first contact with the indigenous desert people up for sale
RARE glass negatives bought for “a trifling” more than 20 years ago at a suburban Adelaide garage sale, now form the basis for a $250,000 book sale.

The slides are thought to be the first successful batch of photographs of an exploration expedition in Australia and some show the first contact with the indigenous desert people of South Australia’s Far North and Western Australia’s inland.

Adelaide antiquarian bookseller, Michael Treloar, has put the slides, together with original publications of the images, on sale for $250,000.
