------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are looking for a statistician to join the Evidence-Based Practice Unit ( http://www.ucl.ac.uk/clinical-psychology/EBPU/ ): a dynamic, expanding and friendly academic research and service development team, currently consisting of 35 people including post-doctoral researchers, clinicians and service development specialists. We are based at the Anna Freud Centre (AFC), in leafy North West London, and have strong links to UCL. The unit undertakes research in child mental health, helping to develop effective service provision for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in schools and clinics. This involves leading major national data collection processes as part of practitioner learning collaborations (in particular the Child Outcomes Research Consortium: see http://www.corc.uk.net/  ), for a national project developing payment systems for child mental health service provision (see: http://pbrcamhs.org/ ), and for a national service transformation initiative (CYP IAPT: http://www.cypiapt.org/children-and-young-peoples-project.php ).

The post-holder’s role will be to plan and carry out statistical analyses for a range of projects, working closely alongside other statisticians and post-doctoral research fellows, with support from statistically savvy research assistants. There are plenty of opportunities for cross-disciplinary working, contribution to peer reviewed publications, presentations at conferences and national events, and for contributing to internal training (e.g. by teaching R to junior colleagues). The post would suit an enthusiastic, creative, organised and self-motivated individual, who is interested in statistical modelling, is highly competent in working with large data sets, has advanced skills in data management and programming (e.g. using R or SPlus), and is able to explain their work to non-statisticians. The post-holder should be prepared to work with data from both observational studies and experiments. The position presents an opportunity to produce and publicise statistical evidence that can help improve the quality of mental health provision for children and adolescents in this country and beyond.
