You will provide statistical support to multi-disciplinary teams as
part of research and consultancy projects in the Health Economic and Decision Science (HEDS) section within ScHARR. The main research focus is health technology assessment, including the synthesis of evidence from randomised controlled trials to inform the assessment of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. The research will be for agencies such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and leading
pharmaceutical companies.
You will provide expertise to identify statistical
relationships and their associated uncertainties for use in decision analytic models and as part of
randomized controlled trials. Types
of work will include Bayesian evidence synthesis including network
meta-analysis; Bayesian
analysis of randomized controlled trials and observational
studies; and the elicitation of experts’ beliefs. You will help in the identification and development of new statistical methods, publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and make presentations at
conferences. You
will be encouraged to develop your own methodological research interests that are complementary to those within HEDS and help contribute to Masters level teaching and supervision.
