Dear all

Further to the emails below, I've been in touch with Caren directly, but for anyone else who is interested, we run two well-established mentoring programmes for academic women at the University of Sheffield, Impact and Futures. Impact is a 6-month programme for female Lecturers who are mentored by Professors, Futures is a 12-month programme for female Senior Lecturers, Readers and Professors, who are mentored by Pro-Vice-Chancellors.

I would be happy to speak with anyone who has any questions about either programme.

Best wishes

Frances

Hi Caren, Esther and other HEEON members who are interested in mentoring -

UWE run a 'Women Researchers Mentoring Scheme' in which our female researchers can be mentored by a more senior male or female staff member either in research or in another area of the University.

The scheme was piloted in 2012 and is in its 2nd full year, supporting around 15-20 mentoring pairs per year.
Both mentors & mentees receive training prior to beginning their relationship, and participants are supported by workload allocations.

There's more info on the scheme on our website:

Best wishes,

Vicky Swinerd.

Dear Caren,

I'm really pleased to see your email as I was looking into this very issue today.

We are looking at setting up a scheme for BME, women and disabled staff so while I don't have a scheme to share with you I would be interested in working with you on setting up a scheme.

I was at the BME-ntor training Friday past, and that scheme was a collaborative one, which seemed to work extremely well as it meant there was a wider pool of mentors to draw from.

If you are interested in doing something collaboratively or even just sharing ideas on setting up our own schemes please let me know and perhaps we could meet up to discuss.  Please let me know.

Kind regards

Hi All,

I am looking at the design of our equality mentoring schemes for both female staff and BME staff and would be interested in finding out if anyone has successful schemes, with a healthy number of mentees?

It would be great to exchange information and ideas, so please do contact me.

Best wishes,
Caren
