Dear Shiyu, check two things: first that the location of the origin coordinates of your structural image and the origin of the Karolinska template are more or less in the same place. Then, check the voxel size of your images and the Karolinska. Most of the time, before the use of rat/mice images its needed to scale the images, otherwise the predefined parameters of spm8 can give an error. If that was ok, the be sure that the smoothing parameters that you use are ok, in general you need both images smoothed (the references and the one you want to normalize), otherwise you will have an error.
