Also they are likely to get less quality info back due to the writing physician exercising understandable caution with the passing over of sensitive information. I always explain to HR that it is for this reason and that we will interpret and combine with the job details to give them opinion which is useful to them. They could easily misinterpret or not recognise the relevance of the information being given back to them which actually increases their liability and risk

We have recently had a situation where HR have altered a ‘consent for release of medical records’ form, in relation to an Ill Health Early Retirement appeal, they have added that HR would also be able to view the relevant clinical information, and then submitted it to be signed by the employee.  Occupational Health were not asked if they support this amendment, it was done without any OH knowledge.

 

Just wondering if anyone on here has been subjected to anything like this?  my boss is not a very happy OHA at the moment …. and that’s putting it mildly….
