Hi All,

Probably old territory for many, but new territory for me.

We are considering the possibility of developing a platform that brings together collections from across the university's various collections in one place, and allows users to curate their own selections. The idea is that it could be a teaching resource, allowing teachers/lecturers to pull together collections relevant to their curriculum, and that we could also use it to produce things like guest curated collections which would be viewable online, and then visitors to Oxford could also print out a trail to find these collections in the flesh (which they could also do with any collections they themselves pull together).

Anyway, it is just a hypothetical project proposal at the moment, so I'm starting with a bit of desk research on:
* whether people actually use these kind of tools
* if so, what are the key audiences (whatever we produce would be a pilot with collections content relevant to a specific need, e.g. arts and design teachers/students)
* any experience of available software (eg. omeka)

If anyone has any examples - and especially any user research - that they could share I'd be grateful.
